Internal Medicine Procedures Allow Us to Uncover and Treat Problems
Maybe you notice your pet is having “accidents” in the house, sleeping more than normal or not eating as much. Sometimes, changes in behavior are indicators that your pet isn’t feeling up to par. At Shea Animal Hospital, we combine the latest in internal medicine techniques with our years of experience to pinpoint what’s going on with your pet’s health.
- Initial Diagnostics. After doing a physical examination of your pet and asking questions about its behavior, we may recommend some simple diagnostic tests, like a blood test or a urinalysis. Shea has the very latest in diagnostic equipment, which allows us to get instant results on many tests. More involved or complex diagnostic tests are sent to Idexx, a certified lab, and results are often available in a few days.
- Advanced Diagnostics. If the problem isn’t easily identifiable, we dig deeper by utilizing more advanced diagnostic techniques, like biopsies, body fluid sampling and cytology.
- Hospitalization. If your pet requires trained observation or medical treatment during the diagnostic process, there’s no better place for it to be than in our fully equipped hospital where it will be monitored and cared for by our trained medical team.
- Consultations. At Shea, our veterinarians work as a team, pooling their unique experiences and areas of medical specialty to help diagnose and treat our patients. Our doctors have nearly 50 years of combined experience, are members of numerous medical associations and pursue continuing education to stay on the leading edge of veterinary medicine. When necessary, we also confer with specialists to help us in the diagnostic and treatment process.
